i really don't know what to say about this book? so many sections could have been written much more concisely and still would have had the same effect; and i can tell that there's something really good underneath here, but there's so many loose ends that i can't keep track of and i'm just. so. confused. i'd like to continue the trilogy because what's going on is incredibly interesting, and clearly the first book is more of a prelude than the whole story. i hope. it's very clever at points, but i feel like it tries too hard to come across as intellectual at other points? i wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but i wouldn't say it's bad either, not at all.

Equally psychological and philosophical. Auster creates further confusion from an already confusing situation. Characters are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle rather than their own selves. One of my favourites.

Nunca me he sentido especialmente interesada en el arte posmodernista, quizás por eso no conecté del todo con este libro. Sin embargo, aunque no suelen gustarme los finales abiertos, en este caso no me ha molestado y opino que le queda bien a la historia.
