Okay so this book wasn't what I expected but I loved it. I know many people especially one's who love greek mythology did not enjoy this book. I am a big mythology fan myself but I didn't have an issue with the book. There were a few times where I thought the portrayal of the gods was a but strange but nothing big enough to influence my enjoyment of the story.

The writing style was great. This is the first book I've read by Alexandra Bracken and I definitely want to read more! The Darkest Minds has been on my tbr for a while so I'm excited to read that soon :)

The ending was quite abrupt and a bit under explained imo and that's part of the reason my I didn't give it 5 stars. I genuinely enjoyed it but it just wasn't five stars for me.

Edit: After sleeping on it I decided to give it 4 instead of 5.75. There were no real plot twists and everything that was explained I had already guessed before. The things I couldn't figure out on my own weren't explained in the end which left me confused.

the premise sounded very cool but i was not a fan of the execution, the characters’ personalities felt very inconsistent & there was so much going on all the time that what was supposed to be the actual climax didn’t feel that exciting

This book was different than anything I had read before, definitely a unique take on Greek Mythology!
“Lore” Follows Melora (aka Lore) through the events of the  Argon, a seven day trial every seven years where gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals. Hunters try and kill the Gods durring these seven days, because their immorality and powers are passed down to whoever wields the killing blade.
I think what brought this book down for me was the info dump at the beginning. Throughout the novel there were many plot points that left me confused, or plot holes which I felt needed more development. Stand alone fantasy novels can be difficult in that aspect, so I appreciated the fact that it was fast paced with lovable characters.
There is a great found family dynamic as well as romance (subplot) which contrasted well with some of the darker themes.
In case anyone is interested solely on the cover, Lore is NOT a Medusa retelling, but mentions her as well as other mythical women.

The book was a little too fast-paced. There wasn’t enough time between events to develop characters and relationships, leaving much of the characters and relationships to be flat and difficult to connect to.

This is a super-fast paced book.  Maybe even a little too fast paced for my taste.  I also didn't care for the sections set in the past.  However, the characters are real and flawed.  They are honestly my favorite part of the book.  There are some crazy plot twists, and the book is never predicable.  The way the mythology influences the book is well thought out, and it makes the evens of Greek myths seem real.

Will I read more by Alexandra Bracken?: Honestly, this was too quick for my taste, but it wasn't bad.  I won't seek her out, but I won't avoid her, either.

Who do I recommend this too?: People who like fast-paced books, lots of plot twists, violent books, urban fantasy, or fans of Greek mythology.
