rough at the edges, but is a debut. i’ll be reading more from this author to know better how i feel about those weaker points, imo.

Speaking of dead girl tropes...
I didn't finish this mystery. Did not feel for anyone involved and it felt superficial. Oh well. Maybe it is better when read instead of when listened to, but I will never know.

Best mystery/thriller I've read in a while. Nora Watts reminds me a bit of Kinsey Milhone from the Sue Grafton series, but with a lot more baggage. Looking forward to the next installment!

As my mother-in-law would say, this was very nice, but it was not for me. I read this for Book Club.

I think it's "noir," which I do not care for. The main character (and it's narrated in the first person) spoke in a monotone in my head. I'm not sure if that was the author's intent, but that's what happened. I think maybe she smiled once the whole book? Not for me. Also it was raining all the time, until it was really cold and snowy (but the MC didn't have appropriate clothing) and then she went back to Vancouver where it was raining all the time.

Also it's a "thriller" which just isn't my genre. And a mystery; same.

The writing was fine until near the end where I started to roll my eyes a bit. So I dunno, maybe this is a good book for people who like mysteries and/or thrillers and/or books about a "damaged" woman who is a victim of sexual assault? But I am not one of those people so I couldn't say for sure. Sorry!

Really 2 1/2 stars. A mystery story that was interesting and compelling in the beginning but turns into a mishmash of characters and a very convoluted, messy plot. Don’t know if I would read another by this author m

Good pacing and an interesting main character. The ending of the book fell flat to me.
