I might change my mind over time. I’m not sure.
The ending really fucked me up. I’m still in shock about it. And I’m so angry???

This book was cruel and lean. Starts off at a moderate pace and builds to a fast, brutal conclusion. It’ll sit with you. The world and characters are horrible and I couldn’t look away.

I can't really rate this because I wouldn't know where to even begin.
It's certainly not a book I would recommend to anyone I know and it was way more explicit and brutal than I thought it would be to be honest, since I went in nearly completely blind, only  knowing that the main topic would be structural cannibalism.

But it will stay in my thoughts a long time and it has a lot of themes you can talk about. I also actually liked that there was no real moral to take away from it because the main protagonist himself is part of the system and it's exclusively told from his pov. So you have to interpret everything yourself.

For a lot of the book I kinda felt like I should feel sorry for the protagonist, but in the end I'm very happy that I didn't 😅

A complex near-future horror story about how far a government will go to save the world, and how far humans can remove themselves from humanity.
