I don't know how this book was more messed up than Gone Girl, but it definitely was.

I picked this up primarily because I love Amy Adams and wanted to watch the series based on the bookâand obviously one must read the source material first. Thus, I didn't think much about what it was about and found myself confronted with more violent material than I was expecting. Having read Gone Girl, I knew the Flynn deals in darkly complex women, but even so this felt gratuitously macabre for no particular reason. Maybe for people who enjoy shows like Criminal Minds, but that isn't me.

Great book. The ending was a bit predictable, but still held some surprises that made it an extremely compelling book to read.

Great story, but I honestly can't stand Flynn's writing style. The show is better, which I rarely say!

Sharp Objects is the 3rd book that I've read by Gillian Flynn and like the others it is definitely a page-turner. I finally picked this up due to the HBO limited series adaptation of the novel. I wanted to read the book first before diving into the show. I am really curious to see how they handle some of the plot elements in the show.
