Gallows Hill var en plågsam upplevelse till en början. Jag drabbades av någon form av lässvacka och hade svårt att motivera mig att plocka upp boken. Historien kändes svagt engagerande och påminde dessutom mycket om Coates tidigare roman "The Haunting of Ashburne House". Men, så börjar märkliga saker hända. Klockorna, som är placerade i det gamla huset på Gallows Hill vilket berättelsen kretsar kring och som användes för att kalla på tjänstefolket när familjen i huset behövde hjälp, börjar ringa mitt i natten. Är det någon som ringer på dem - eller varnar de för något? När Margot hittar ett inspelat band från din barndom där föräldrarna varnar för "den andra familjen" som kommer ut på natten, kryper det längs med ryggraden och boken har mig i sina klor. Mot slutet är jag fast.

I really liked this! great character development, great setting development, and a really satisfying ending.
Best horror novel I've read in a while! Such a good story, so atmospheric with a thrilling ending. Imagery and suspense and twists... everything I love in a horror story! Excited to try more from the author
This had soooo much potential but it just never grabbed me as much as I had hoped it would.
Perfectly spooky! The mystery within a horror novel kept me intrigued the whole way through. It definitely is a slow build, but I love how all is revealed right at the end.
Another winner from the queen of haunted house books! But let me warn you first, do not read this book at night or before bedtime. Darcy Coates writes such immersive books that you will completely be pulled into this nightmare and it won’t let go! But do read it!! Just make it a daytime read!
This was my first Darcy Coates novel and I’m forever changed. I’ve been looking for the right mix of horror and thriller and I finally found it in Gallows Hill.
Twisty and creepy. Well-plotted, with a compelling mystery. Properly developed characters worth rooting for. And a satisfying conclusion. Consider me delighted.
