I picked this up meaning to join in a readalong on Goodreads but life got in the way. Actually though that might have been a good thing, as it meant I've been able to lose myself in this story completely.

A fun, albeit a bit over the top, atmospheric and creepy story. I liked the characters and I really appreciated the descriptive writing. I listened to this on Audible and enjoyed the narration. I chose to lean into it and suspend disbelief quite a bit with this one, but honestly, I expected that. It never scared me particularly, but there were a few moments I was on the edge of my seat and very engaged. I will probably read more by this author.

This book was really slow to climax and when it did, it was over just as soon as it started. Was disappointed in the quick end, as well. I went in expecting more than I got.
