I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was fun, adventurous. It did that trope where we're following different storylines, and you're not really sure how they're connected until the end because they all seem so different. But what do you know, they all come together at the end?I do feel like they really wrapped up everything at the end.And I don't know that I needed that, but it was kind of nice to just see everything played out

This rich mobile man invites his family to go save the cabin for the weekend, and they go, and at first, it seems like a nice time, but then a big storm happens and so the power goes out and they're trying to figure out what's going on, the rich guy's wife ends up. Leaving the house and she like, left a note that said, you know, I'm leaving you, we're breaking up. And he's like, oh my God, what the f*** like we had to find her turns out she was not willingly leading the house she was taken, and it's just so confusing, and so like, what's going on that you think that maybe the rich guy is the one to blame. Um, there's this whole side storyline of some of the characters all share a sperm donor father. And so they're all connected one of the girls has taken it upon herself. To do the research, she figured out who their sperm done her daddy, was turns out he was a serial killer, so not a good person, and uh, she decides to kill all the bad ones of them. So she goes around killing some other, like half-siblings, and yeah. She decides that this main guy is to blame, and so she's like, I need to hurt him. And the women who help him to do bad things and get away with it. So that's why she lured them all to this cabin, and she's trying to hurt the mom. She ends up, stabbing the wife of the rich guy and I really thought she was going to die, but she did make it. Um, I mean a lot of stuff. Goes on. I don't want to get into too much detail, but essentially, they all work together. Stab this woman and kill her, and then they all live happily ever after. The end

2.5 rounded up. I enjoyed the isolated mystery aspect, but this just had too many main characters and a convoluted plot. When everyone is vying for development, some plot points are going to be left behind.
I still enjoyed it, but I would have enjoyed it more with heavier editing.

a 4.5 stars thriller read.

I started this one really blind, I don't know anything, not even read the blurb, and I'm glad, I really enjoyed it from the beginning till the end.

What I like:
- The characters, well not all, well all these characters are not a saint, everyone has dark secrets, some just do what they have to do because they're family, and some just pure evil. I have some fav characters that I want them to survive, I don't want anything bad happen to them, because they deserve happy ending, they're just deserve to have second chance, to righ the wrong.
- the story, it revolves around DNA, so it's pretty unique and it takes "blood is thicker than water" to another level.
- the pace, it's a fast-paced read, with back and forth between present and past, that add to the suspense, I keep guessing is this man is a bad guy, is this woman a bad person, is this what cause this revenge, or is this the motive. Yes I love it.
- the suspense, when the storm brewing and they're all trapped in that cabin, well no need to say that everything is getting ugly very fast, it's just so intense.

what I don't like:
- it has a good ending but I wished that one character get some ugly punishment, because that person totally deserves it, I really really want bad things happen to that person.
- there's some storylines that kinda not finished, I need more answers.

recommended: yes, it's a fast-paced fun captivating suspense mystery thriller read with some twists and surprises.

The writing was choppy and hard to follow at times, and the plot was very convoluted

Not bad overall, but the complete left turn made this plot very different than the cover reads - and not necessarily in a good way.
