Don't remember

4.5! I was hooked from the first chapter. A spooky thriller that was a little cheesy but I ate it up!

This book had so much promise, and the first half of the book was really good (which is why it's getting three stars). The last half of the book dragged on way too long trying to get to the part where the second storyline tied into the main storyline, and the "big twist" tying it all together was a little ridiculous at best.

3.5. lots of fluff between the chapters. slow to progress. last few chapters make up for shortcomings.

A generous 3 stars. The writing was good but there were a lot of characters to remember. Started to get better half way through.

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger was the most twisty, locked room thriller I’ve ever read.

3.5 Stars

I enjoyed this a lot. I was entertained by the breakneck pacing!

DIDN’T LIKE:

Virile: This word was used to describe CONSTANTLY to describe Mako over and over and over again. Everyone was calling him virile, even his sister! There were several metaphors and similes that got the constantly repeated virile treatment.

Lisa Unger writes her female characters like a man would. What do I mean? The female characters had this male gaze on them to the point where I thought this book was written by a man.

It seemed like Henry was gonna be biracial because he was described as having “dark skin and black curls” and experienced prejudice from racists only for him to have a Portuguese and Spanish background?

Bracken. Everything about him and his inclusion in this book.

I LIKED:

I was hooked on the storyline! What was gonna end up happening? What’s going on? Who are they?! Why are there so many people and how do they all connect?

Plot was intense and suspenseful! The twists were wonderfully dramatic.

I was genuinely worried for Hannah, Bruce, Henry. I wanted to make sure they were okay!

I picked up on the foreshadowing and some of my predictions were right! It was a satisfying feeling.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

This was an intense and juicy ride! I picked this as a buddy read and I can’t wait to discuss it with my friend.
