Everly’s dream is coming true. She’s just been chosen to be on her favorite makeover show, On the Plus Side; her crush at work is paying even more attention to her; and she’s starting to feel more confident already. As the production starts to unfold and she realizes her goals may be different than she thought, she finds an unlikely friendship with Logan, the show’s cameraman. Feelings for herself, and Logan, continue to evolve and develop among the challenges and hitches in the show’s production.

I really loved Everly’s representation. As a plus size woman, I really related to her complicated relationship with her mother, and her lack of confidence in putting herself out there. I also really liked that it wasn’t simply “hot guy pays attention to the fat girl.” There was a lot more to Logan than appearances, and he had his own self-conscious moments. I wish that a show like this existed for real!

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for an advanced copy of this book!

I enjoyed the book, it was a fun and enjoyable read. It did get heavy at times, when dealing with some of the fat phobia the main character experienced, but i think overall it was handled well. I liked all the diverse representation and who doesnt love a gay, body positive, Indian guy named Stanton Bakshi. I like that there was not a cliched fight between the leads at 80% as we have come to expect. I am already looking for the author's debut read.

This book was like if Pam from the Office had the love story w/ the boom mic operator instead of Jim and I’m HERE for it.

I love any book with good fat representation & this story does it SO well with a perfect blend of fat joy, growth & reflection. The main character is struggling with her identity certainly and has experienced fat shaming in her life but rather than the focus be on self hate or frustrations surrounding her fatness, it was on her personality and the fear of being too much- too loud, taking up too much space, time, etc. I loved this and it resonated so much with me as a plus size person who was constantly told I was too much.

Add in the mix an adorable and steamy slow burn w/ a grumpy cameraman on the set of a plus size reality show? I’m SOLD. Everything about this book draws you in from the very beginning and gives you a perfectly balanced heart warming story.

This was a fantastic read & I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Reality tv + grumpy man who melts for MC + self-love is THE journey. Clever cameos from characters in Howell’s book THE MAKEUP TEST. Now I want Becca and Ellis to have their own book! I recommend this book for readers who like/love the style of Rachel Lynn Solomon. This is an emotionally rich book. As a fat woman reading this book, I felt seen and affirmed.
