I really enjoyed this! I listened to the audiobook and I had some difficulty keeping track of the characters in the beginning, but I ended up really enjoying this! The twists and turns were so much fun. Highly recommend!

Novel ini memang menceritakan tentang sebuah misteri kasus pembunuhan, tetapi bukan misteri kalau pelakunya aja udah kita ketahui sejak awal. Toh tokoh utamanya bukanlah seorang detektif, melainkan genius matematika yang berprofesi sebagai guru matematik di SMA.
Jadi para pembaca nggak sibuk ngikutin detektif mencari siapa pelakunya, melainkan kita mencari tau apa motif tokoh utama membantu si pelaku. Sebenernya kita juga udah tau alasannya dari awal, tapi nggak sesederhana itu.
Ini lucu sih, semakin sulit teka-teki nya, semakin sederhana cara yang digunakan. Semakin kita nyoba untuk menebak-nebak, semakin jauh jawabannya.
Yang aku sadari setelah baca novel ini, sesuai dari judulnya yaitu kesetiaan: setia itu merupakan sebuah pilihan dan tekad, orang yang memilih untuk setia terkadang tidak pamrih, tetapi tentu saja mereka memiliki harapan agar orang terkasihnya tidak mengalami penderitaan.
Hal tersebutlah yang membuat tokoh utama dalam novel ini mau mengotori tangannya sendiri untuk melindungi orang terkasihnya tanpa pamrih. Di zaman sekarang, siapa pula orang yang mau repot-repot melakukan hal ekstrim tersebut.
Dibalik tindakannya yang mengerikan ada seseorang yang ingin dia lindungi. Cinta itu buta, tapi yang ini kelewatan buta :(
Tapi jujur waktu sampai di penghujung cerita, kesedihan tokoh utama berdamage bgt, aku nangis wak.. meski aku baca versi terjemahan, bahasanya nggak sulit dan mudah dipahami, ceritanya pun punya plot yang keren!!

Well written and interesting. The mix of character development and plot was solid, and I had conflicting feelings for the main characters throughout.

My first time reading anything by Keigo Higashino, I am a fan of detective novels and enjoyed some Japanese ones previously and the works of Higashino are highly thought of.
I started this a while back but got side tracked with other books and this week decided to give it a proper go at last.
What a superb read and I devoured it in a day or two. A real page turner and I wouldn't have guessed the twist in the plot. I thought it was obvious from the start but when the twist came it took me by surprise, I would like to read it again to see if I missed anything, I probably did.
I look forward to reading more of the authors works and hope they are as enjoyable as this was.

The story has a plot twist. I was amazed by the two characters in this book because they competed with each other's intelligence.
The main character is named Ishigami. When I read this book, I felt really sympathetic towards Ishigami because he is a genius but his life doesn't go according to his wishes and sometimes he was annoyed because he really sacrificed everything for love, but when I read the ending I understood why he sacrificed everything and I also understood why this book is called The Devotion of Suspect X
In this book, I was also amazed by one of the characters named Yukawa, amazed to see Yukawa solve this case with his intelligence, whose brain is as genius as Ishigami's.
