I'm actually really mad about how this book is structured. It's stupidly arranged and it feels like a story that could have been told in like...the first third of a book rather than the entire book. Yeah. Four stars.

A very conflicted review because on one hand, I LOVED it : loved the world, the characters, the writing, the found family trope, the magic, BUT on the other hand, some slurs were weirdly sprinkled throughout the text? 2011 really striking strong with this one I guess.

The start definitely had me hooked. The vibes where all there until Akiva came in around the middle and it kind of lost me. Not a fan of urban fantasies though so didn’t have many high hopes going into it and it surprised me in some aspects like the writing was amazing with super great imagery in the amazing setting of Prague. Although it was kind of just a typical YA fantasy but I have heard that it gets better and more interesting so I think I will keep reading.
