Confusing at times, with awkward exposition attempting to explain how the magic functions. The dialogue itself was fine, but the "inner monologue" sections were at times cringe-worthy.
A fun read in the context of the Cosmere as a whole, though I wouldn't recommend it on its own. It provides some additonal information for a few things that appear in RoW, and assumedly WaT.
Probably the weakest I've read from Sanderson so far but still a mostly enjoyable read!

It felt like it was written for children, I am just happy to be done, barely any cosmere references aside from khriss’ backstory

White Sand, Elantris, and Warbreaker are generally what I hear as candidates for Sanderson's worst. It's definitely this. Elantris and Warbreaker are good books, but this is just not. I'm not a big comic guy, so maybe this is just how comics are, but I found the dialog to be pretty bad. It feels like it was written as a book and then converted to a comic (which I think is what happened), so the dialog is often stuff nobody would ever say in order to communicate certain things to the reader. Even when it isn't doing that, it often feels fake. The characters are basically all generic Sanderson characters. The magic system is too complex for this story. Sanderson's magic systems are usually very cool and effectively used because of how hard they are, but it doesn't work in White Sand. All the stuff about gaining more ribbons, striking the sides of ribbons with other ribbons, etc. just feels like bloat. It could've just been the same as sandbending from avatar and the story would've lost very little. There's a whole darkside we never see. I barely even know what it is, and it barely matters, but instead we learn about the whole political climate there as well as on dayside. It's way too complex for such a simple story. And then on top of all the excess worldbuilding, each chapter starts with a full page of lore (which I mostly skipped). That might just be an omnibus thing I guess.
The plot is really simple, and not interesting. The A plot barely moves. Once we get tothe first vote it becomes clear that the story will end with the second vote, and everything until then is working toward getting the votes. But it basically does nothing that moves toward that. It just feels like thing after thing happening until we decide we're done. We gotta go talk to this guy and now this guy and now this guy again and now do this and it all feels pointless. The other plots aren't interesting at all. They're basically just SURPRISE GUY YOU THOUGHT WAS GOOD WAS BAD and the inverse of that. The assassination plot is clearly jammed in there just so there are actions scenes because there needs to be actions scenes because it's a comic. I haven't thought too hard about it so maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like the story loses very little without it.
White Sand just didn't work for me. None of it felt compelling. None of it interested me. It's not bad, but it's definitely the worst Sanderson I've read.
