This book was incredibly frustrating.

I love the Dollanghanger series and I was excited to see how Cory's story might continue. But since this book is 369 pages of Clara Sue bitching and repeatedly thinking the same thoughts time and again, I feel cheated. This didn't have to be part of the series at all, it could have been any child they happened upon in the hospital and it wouldn't have changed this story at all.

The story I was promised didn't happen. It wasn't badly written, it just wasn't about Cory. I was hoping at least in the epilogue they'd tell us how he grew or if he ever saw his siblings again. Or how Corrine's therapist knew where he was for Kristin and Kane I bring him the diary. Something. But sadly it didn't deliver even that.

Aside from that disappointment, there's Clara Sue's relationship with Aaron. She pushed him away and then acted like they broke up because all he wanted was sex. While that probably would have happened, the guy was there for her when she needed him so I feel like that could have ended more naturally not just abruptly like it did.

I'm just really disappointed.

I have officially finished the "Flowers in the Attic" series. I know what happened to Corrine, Christopher, Cathy, Carrie, and Cory. Now, what do I do with my life?

This book is definitely a reach but I will read anything that has to do with this series. A lot of people don’t like the main character but I empathized with her and that made it easier for me to read and like the book. Do I think he should have resurrected Corey from the dead? Absolutely not, but I’m a sucker what can I say.

"The most unexpected Dollanganger story of them all, new from the author of Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind..." I think you meant the most unnecessary Dollanganger story of them all, new from the man who's been using the author of Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind's name for the last few decades. When I picked up the Diaries series, I knew it was going to be disastrous but I hadn't the slightest idea just how bad it would get.

If I were a dramatic person (which frankly I am, but I'd like to pretend I'm not) I would say that after reading these books, I am not the same person. But to be fair, that has no sense behind it beyond a bit of anger and annoyance. Again, I can't help but to wonder why we can't leave V.C. Andrews' legacy alone. Regardless, we're here. We're bored. We're about to cry. Okay--I won't cry but I'm mostly stalling in my review because I can't figure out how to describe how bloody awful this book--and the previous two installments--and I don't want to approach it too rudely.

I should say this: Flowers in the Attic is an iconic property and I do--on some levels--get the reasoning behind continuing to publish these new installments. They are nothing more than glorified fan-fiction (an insult to FF) and won't affect the original series if you don't want to consider it canon. Fans of V.C. Andrews have always been pretty split when it comes down to things and I do think that a majority will agree with me when I say that this series is not only unnecessary it's just bad.

There's no sense behind it and no V.C. Andrews feel to it whatsoever. There's the whole bullsh*t retcon situation we've got in Cory being alive, much like the other books in the series the only connections between Flowers in the Attic, the diaries and this series are blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments of all questions and no answers. I can't stress enough how forgettable (yet frustrating) this story is and can promise you that it is one of the worst books I've ever read. Between the Diaries series and Whitefern, it's in my opinion that Neiderman really needs ditch the boat before it sinks.

Bad. Bad. Bad.

(Did I mention bad?)

I admit I wanted to see just how the ghostwriter would pull this off. To bring a long dead character back to life again. Sadly he didn't. The boy or poisoned boy as he's called throughout the book makes few appearances in this book. Mostly about Clara Sue whining about missing her brother and parents. As someone who recently went through some tough times and losses I tried to empathize with her, but Clara Sue fell flat. Would've liked to have heard more from William. This book just made no sense the whole series made no sense and really lead nowhere and revealed nothing and was therefore pointless. In my mind Cory is dead his body locked away in an attic trunk, and I'm going to easily forget these three books ever existed.
