I feel bad DNFing this book as the author clearly put a lot of time and effort into researching the Georgian period, the square of sevens, and the tension that existed between "rational thought" and fortune telling and beliefs in this period. My reason for DNFing is the MC got so annoying and the plot felt like it kept circling the same thing but without moving forward.

This book is long. Good, but really long. I kept thinking there must have been a way it could have been edited down and still be just as tightly plotted. I did enjoy all the twists, which I didn't see coming, and although I was really confused at 95%, the final reveal answered my questions (I think).
