I definitely think that the Dark Heir series is Pacat's stronger work, both in writing style and plot. That being said, I did enjoy this read, and that's exactly why I picked it. It wasn't revolutionary in any sense of the word, but it was a fun, easy read. And that's what I needed right about now. I will definitely be continuing the series. If I can get my hands on it, that is.

(also, respectfully, it is a lie to call this individual book a "romance" thank you and good night)

This book put me under its spell as it did during 2020.

The way the book is written you know no words were wasted as you struggle to understand through Damien’s pov what is even going on. Reading a second time you see Laurent in a different light
