I’d be lying if I said I fully understand this book as it interestingly blurs the lines of what is real and fictional within the books world. Even more interestingly, the book itself self aware of this and even references this at the start.
Goodbye Eri is an emotional rollercoaster that never looses its grip on the reader. The book is beautiful, funny, sad and more.

I picked this up partly because it was nominated for an Eisner Award but also because I was told it was about grief.
I wouldn't say that's wrong but also there's a lot more. It very much is a Tatsuki Fujimoto story, so the sort of eerie undertone he often has in chainsaw man is there. But it's something to get you to think and giggle at occasionally.
It's a very quick read. Fujimoto uses a lot of repeating panels to articulate time and pause really well. But also because of that there's a lot of silence in this book (not a bad thing).
This isn't for everyone, and I would be mindful when I suggest it. But it is by no means bad, but wasn't my cup of tea.

thematically interesting but i couldn't get into it – that may be my fault, i'm not used to mangas and I probably read it too fast / couldn't really let it set. Also unsure about the ending
