Sophie and her mother are sitting down to tea, when the doorbell rings. Sophie answers, and there's a tiger at the door! The tiger is invited in, promptly eats all the food in the house, and leaves. That night, the family goes out to eat since there is no more food left.
A cute story, but lots of traditional gender roles that feel icky when reading today.

Decided to read this in advance of watching a live theatre version with my 4 year old grandson in 2 days time. The aim was to reduce the number of times I have to ask him to explain the plot during the performance! I'm looking forward to his own review.

I read this 7 and a half times in a row to Lola and eventually she went from screaming to napping so I'm taking it as a win

What a classic and fun story! Kids were a little old for it, but they really enjoyed it!
