A weird, hilarious delight. I felt my Midwestern blood pumping extra strongly through my veins just by reading about the farming and the hens. Add in a heist and I didn’t even know what to do with myself.

I don’t know what I think about this. I think I enjoyed reading it, I think it made me feel uncomfortable, I don’t think it was because of the challenge made by the subject matter, I think it was quite disjointed, I probably wouldn’t recommend it.
I don’t know. It just didn’t sit quite right. I think I need to think on it more.

Barn 8 is laugh out loud funny while also tackling some of life’s hardest topics. It is equal parts absurd heist, activist pamphlet, and road map for the broken-spirited. Sometimes life stomps on you and the only way to get up off the mat is to become truly unhinged.

I have a newfound appreciation for the little ladies occupying this book, and a hatred for hen farms. Why am I crying over a book about a chicken heist? If you ever want to eat eggs without a guilty conscience, don’t read this. I want to join an animal rights group.
