What can I say? If I said it once, then I’ll say it again: James Herriot’s book are THE BEST!! They never disappoint. And this one can be added to the list.

A collection of tales sewn together with Herriott's time training to be in the RAF during WWII. If you want to pass the time reading about kindness, this is it.

Another warm, wonderful, ideal insomnia read from James Herriot. In this one, he contrasts his experiences in the RAF during WWII with his idyllic adventures as a Yorkshire vet, now married with a baby. While reading these books, it seems that nothing can go too far wrong which is greatly comforting even if it's untrue.

A bit disjointed as it jumps back and forth between vet stories and Air Force stories, usually with very brief/awkward transitions. The author also seems to be scraping the bottom of the barrel of vet stories, though there were a few really good ones.
I couldn't help but notice that he failed to mention that the surgery that got him discharged from the RAF was on his butthole.

4.5 stars. This installment is told as Herriot is in training for the RAF in WWII. I enjoyed hearing about his training while he remembered different events as a vet in the Yorkshire Dales. These books are just so calming and relaxing to read and listen to. It’s great on audio and a good “before bed”book.

This series will always be one of my favorites. First time with the audiobooks, and this narrator is wonderful.

Classic, an enjoyable read for any animal lover. I enjoy the first half of the collection much more than this half, since Herriot talks more about his experience in WWII, which, honestly, bored me.

Not as wonderful as the first two books. It's quaint, charming, entertaining but confusing when vet tales and war memories intertwine.
