Nice prequel to a series I love but the case was far too simple and the story lacked that suspense that the longer Hunter novels have. But I liked getting to know rookie Hunter.

Great short story from Chris Carter. I love Robert Hunter and this was a good insight into his first case as a detective.

nice look at the beginning of Robert Hunter' s career but left so much unexplored as it is such a short book. I was hoping for something more substantial however it is intended as an intro to the series for those new to Chris Carter's work, as shown by the copious adverts and the sample from The Crucfix Killer.
It is a less gruesome crime story, a closed door mystery but I feel it may leave some people unprepared for the gory murders in the other books.
hope Mr Carter goes back and develops prequel stories in the future as their is some good potential here.

Great novella showing Roberts first case. I loved how everyone one on the scene was interested to see how he would come up with the answer of the door locked from the inside.

For its length, it was an extremely captivating story. It had the exact same vibe as a full length Chris Carter novel and was an interesting insight into the beginning of Dectective Hunter's career
