Really entertaining and creative retelling of Cinderella. There are also aspects of the plot that are along the lines of Mulan as well. Mai was both dutiful daughter and fierce warrior, who won battles and hearts.

I really enjoyed this story.

This retelling of Cinderella is a mixture of Mulan and Cinderella that is interwoven masterfully. The story captured me from the beginning. The characters are well developed and filled the story with real emotion and depth that made me want to continue reading to discover what happens. Mai and Yi have such a genuine chemistry, and I loved their banter and relationship. As with Enchant, I was thrilled to get to the HEA, but at the same time, I wanted the story to continue so that I could spend more time with the characters. Demelza Carlton has great skill in recreating and giving new life to the fairytales that we know and love. I also commend her ability to develop strong female characters who can handle themselves and take matters into their own hands. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Loved this. Not your traditional Cinderella. It calls back to the Eastern orgins of the story with the setting, and has a taste of gender-bending Mulan.

I was not aware that this was a third book. It was very interesting and different. I liked it and it was a fast read.

This was ... fine. I mean, the premise is really great - Cinderella meets Mulan. But the execution just fell a little flat for me. Also, the sudden adult scenes seemed really out of place with the style of the rest of the book.

Biggest peeve is this cover. Pretty BUT WHY ISN'T THE MODEL CHINESE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? ridiculous.
