I gobbled this trilogy up one after another very quickly. Characters are compelling, the plot relentless, the moral quandaries interesting. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

Let me just start off by saying I had low expectations going into this series. Little did I know that it would take my heart and break it. I loved Eleanor, I loved Daniel, and I loved everyone else in this wild ride of a series. The first was my favorite. But... I just finished the third and I can't say that I wasn't absolutely in love with it. But also: How dare you ??

*I received this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review*
Strange and Ever After definitely redeemed itself from the mediocrity of the second book. Eleanor was a lot more likeable here, and she really grew up in this book. Part of my dislike of A Darkness Strange and Lovely was that Eleanor regressed, she became childish and petty. I was so glad to see that she really came into her own in this book.
Eleanor really started thinking about things in this book, and while I didnāt always agree with her hot-headedness I could also understand her burning desire for revenge. Marcus had utterly destroyed her in so many ways, and Eleanor was fighting to keep her head up. I absolutely enjoyed how she began thinking about how she pushed others away, and actually thought about how she didnāt want to be alone.
Her relationship with Daniel really grew in this book, and it was wonderful to see these two actually start to communicate. There were so many beautiful moments in this book that I canāt even describe how much this book took the characters where I wanted them to go.
Oliver was an odd character for me, because I didnāt particularly like him at all in the last book. However, in this book he really redeemed himself, and Iām glad that we got to see a little bit ore from his perspective. Oliver had such a unique take on what was happening, and it was nice to have an explanation as to why he could be so petty.
The writing was outstanding, and the character development was amazing. The ending was very bittersweet for me, but I think it ended exactly as it needed too. I really debated on giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars, but the only reason I could think of was because the ending wasnāt exactly what I wanted. However, it was a good ending and one that I think was appropriate given where these characters were coming from, so Iām going to stick with a 5 out of 5 star rating. And yes, this book definitely redeemed the lackluster quality of the second. I look forward to seeing what else Susan Dennard comes out with.

3.5 stars.
I'd forgotten quite a lot about the previous two books, and this installment didn't quite remind me of everything that had happened, but that wasn't enough to make this final book hard to understand. I had a hard time with Eleanor early on in the book, but she redeemed herself fairly quickly, and overall I came to like her just as much as I had previously. By the time the book finished, I came to understand her choices, and really enjoyed her character growth. All in all, this was a fairly satisfying ending to a well-written trilogy.

I just canāt with that ending. No spoilers but if youāve read it you probably know what Iām talking about. The first book in this series is my favorite but I enjoyed the series overall. Itās been awhile since Iāve read any kind of zombie book. For awhile there was no shortage of them but I think the world ended up moving on. Thereās was definitely some great world building on this series and compelling characters. Now I can see why Dennard is such a popular author. Iām excited to give her Truthwitch series a try next.
