Oh how I cried the day Pat Conroy died. I had never met the man, yet his death was devastating to me. A poet soul with a prose pen, he was, and continues to be, the most influential, contemporary writer in my life. Maybe it's geography, maybe it's his broken places, maybe it's his passion for beauty, love, and great food. I don't know. I am just thankful to have gotten a few more words from him. Just a wonderfully executed project.

I purchased this incredible book after taking the “Pat Conroy Tour” in Beaufort last week. This is absolutely required reading for Conroy fans. I’m sad to be finished because the structure of the book makes the reader feel as though Conroy is sitting on the porch, telling you his tragic yet inspiring story. Having read all his books, this amazing biography is indeed the icing on the cake.
