So slow that I nearly gave up halfway through, but I am glad that I finished. The way the plots converged was really fascinating.

I also felt that the celebrity cameos were a little overdone and took away from the stories of the main characters.

Still an interesting read, though.

This was such a great book...until the end. Be warned if you decide to pick this up, you may be left feeling like the rug was just pulled out from under your feet!

Alex George has improved so much as a writer. This story told from the perspectives of four very different people is a love letter to the streets of Paris, and how their personal tragedies all lead them to the same place on the same night to receive closure, how you’d least expect it. I wish this novel was twice as long so we could get more character development, in that way it falls short of a masterpiece.

Undecided about the ending. I don't like Camille for sure. I wanted justice for Jean-Paul, but at the same time taking Marie away after 10yrs would likely only hurt her since Camille and Olivier are the only parents she knows

This was a great quarantine read, it does a great job of transporting you to the streets of Paris in the 1920s. The novel takes place over the course of 24 hours and yet still has much depth. The characters are all deeply interesting and the way their stories intersect or run parallel leaves your imagination to wander aimlessly—like you’re wandering around Paris yourself. I do wish the book was a little longer, I would have loved a story line from Therese’s perspective.

Beautifully written, ultimately not for me.
