I had a weird amount of trouble picturing Alphonse as blonde, because his name was Alphonse. This book did not move me, particularly, but I enjoyed it. It's very short, and I breezed right through it. My favorite part was probably how completely fucking oblivious Alphonse is to LITERALLY EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD.

I liked it, but it felt sort of unfinished. Not the story itself - they get the happy ending- but more like it needed fleshing out of something? The reader never gets much from Jacobi other than that he loves Alphonse and is an exceptional valet. We don't even find out if Jacobi is his first or last name. No insights into his past. there is way more banter between Alphonse and Aaliyah than alphonse and Jacobi. So even though it was very cute and had some funny lines, it felt a little dissatisfying.

Cute, funny, lighthearted. Just an absolute cinnamon roll of a main character and I loved that he wasn't too bright but everyone liked him for who he was a didn't try to change him. Delightful
