A snarky main character and some political intrigue make for a fun story with interesting characters and plot. A satisfying enough wrap up if you just want to read just this book, but apparently it's a series, so I'm sure I'll get to that too. It's not usually the best kind of storytelling to have a chunk of explaining things to the audience, but I'm not sure how they could have done it differently in this context--maybe telling us later and reflecting back or something, but that might have left us hanging and not believing the plot enough in the meantime. Sage was snarky to the point of being annoying in the second quarter of the book or so, but then I started to see a little more of what was going on and was less bothered. Thanks to my SIL for the recommendation.

Really good book. Had a great time reading and going through the story, especially with the ending really carrying the book in my opinion. The only thing that brings it down is the middle was just good. Still a good book though.
