Really good beach read. It is actually 3 books combined into one so it is a little long but I needed a book with over 600 pages for book battle so it worked perfectly! It had a little bit of suspense and mystery too which was nice. I feel the name and cover really don't do the story justice. It appears like it would be really cheesy and silly but it was a lot more than that! I also loved that these books were written back in 1995 before cell phones which definitely made things more interesting. It was nice to go back to a time when information and people weren't so readily available. I plan to read the next ones in the series for sure! SO many books SO little time!

For a book being 721 pages long, there was a lot of drama packed in. I would say there was literally drama in every chapter which to say I am not complaining for it keeps the book interesting. Summer's whinyness though throughout the book is the only thing I really disliked about the book. Other than that I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the three boy characters that Applegate made. Adam, Seth, and Diver all melted my heart and each one contributed something interesting to Summer's summer.

This is actually 3 books in one and was a mega impulse buy for me one day at Half Price Books. Normally, the cheesy cover would have thrown me off but I am so glad I gave it a chance. I wasn't expecting so many feels with a silly summer book. Because this is way more than just "fun in the sun" and summer romances. (Although it does have that too!)

Summer Smith (yep, her name really is Summer) is hating life right now...it's February in Minnesota and her boots are full of cold, wet slush. There was no sun. There never had been a sun. It was made up by science teachers. So when her mom asks her if she wants to spend the summer in Florida at her aunt's mega-mansion, she jumps on it. Who wouldn't? On the plane ride there, the weird old lady next to her offers to read her tarot cards and tells Summer that she "will meet three young men, each very different, each very important in her life." Summer is a little weirded out but forgets all about it when she steps into the sunshine.

Diana is Summer's cousin and doesn't want to have anything to do with her relative, but when her mom goes off on a book tour (she writes romance books and has big hair lol) for a week, Diana is stuck entertaining Summer. Well, she's supposed to anyway. Doesn't mean she will. Diana's got lots of issues and her mom thought having perky Summer there would help lift her out of her funk. It doesn't.

Marquez is a local girl who takes Summer under her wing when Diana won't. Marquez wants to get out of their little town as soon as she can and pushes away from everyone who doesn't. She denies her artistic side for the practical "grownup" side that she thinks will help her succeed. Even when that means losing the guy she loves.

The book follows all 3 girls throughout the summer, weaving their individual stories together into one of friendship and healing. Each girl has something in their past that comes back to haunt them and of course, there's a guy for each girl. I can't wait to get the next books in this series (a standalone spring break story and another summer anthology).

It took me a while to read this book, because I’m balancing a job and college. However after a long day and I need something to help me relax and forget and unwind, this book helped me with all of that! It’s such an easy read, but it always stays interesting and makes you want to read more! This 720 page book manages to be so exciting through every page and the ending makes you think! I suggest anyone to read this, it is so great I’ll probably read it a second time!

I picked this up whilst on holiday because I thought it would be an easy summer read, and whilst it was definitely an easy read, I hadn’t anticipated there being a number of more serious plot lines. I throughly enjoyed it though!

This book was a good easy read, best suited to readers 12-15. I'm 17 and I found this book very boring and young in many places. Still a good read though :)

this book was absolutely brilliant. I even read it slowly to savour the book because I didn't want it to end! I need to go out and buy the rest of the series now!

So this book was… long. I was pining for this book since the beginning of summer; it was the perfect summer read! Then I started reading it.. and the story never seemed to end. I feel like when I was 200 pages in, that nothing REALLY happened.. I guess that’s the point of why it’s a summer read right? It’s still summer here, weather goes up to 35 celsius (HOT!) so its not the season, but I think its about what represents summer. In summer we have all the time in the world to do ANYTHING, while now, I'm scrambling to juggle my studies, going out, sleeping, reading, and updating our blog! So very stressful, takes the joy out of a summer read.
Now let’s get down to the actual reviewing. While this book was long, I did find it entertaining, atleast in some stories (with a book this long there had to be more side stories). It is told from almost 3 people’s POVs, Summer, Marquez, and Diana. At first I found summer naïve, Marquez great, and Diana just plain old depressing. But as the story progressed and Summer started falling for every guy alive (reall?) and Marquez with her ex-boyfriend trouble (again enjoyable), and Diana finally getting out of her funk and standing up for herself (you go girl!) I started looking forward to Diana’s chapters the most. I truly admired her resilience to finally stand up for herself, no matter how big and rich the opponent is.
Summer honestly dragged the story, its first deciding who she loves out of all these guys, then keeping him at an arm’s length because she’s is afraid of getting hurt (summer fling and all), then it’s about her family issue (I don’t want to post spoilers). I just feel like her story dragged a bit.
All in all, I think I read this book at the wrong time so my review might have been different if say, I read it during my summer break, but I’m glad I finally got to read it and get it out of my system, no more pining!. The next book in this series is “Tan Lines”. I probably wouldn’t buy it, but if I could borrow it or find it online for cheap price I might get it and save it for next summer. We always want those summer books at some point.
