The author’s descriptions of feelings & events simultaneously enamored me and disgusted me. This book made me feel a lot, but mostly feelings of discomfort and embarrassment. I am glad I read it but would be contentious in who I recommend this book to.

Major Saltburn vibes. Unlikeable characters, well-crafted satiric dialogues, dark themes, rich/poor kind of situation. Honestly I can compare these two pieces of art forever because to me they’re practically an adaptations of each other.
Overall, I enjoyed this book but I wish it was more disturbing in an unhinged way. The premise is cool but it’s not as big on the plot as I expected, the side events were more alarming.
Also, the ending didn’t feel like an actual ending to me because the pace didn’t changed throughout the book. I expected to feel closure of some sort but I only knew it was the end after I read “the end”.
Thought it’d be more eccentric but that’s fine too.

I found this book engaging, but in a strange way, it also didn't really jump out to me. A lot of it washed over me. Greta is an interesting, conflicting character and the relationship at the center was so strange, that I had to keep reading. But it was also gone from me once I set the book down. I could see other folks really connecting with this though. I think if you really liked My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, then you would really like this one too.
