Loved the first hundred pages. The rest less so. I appreciate Carson more than I feel her to my bones. I enjoy the back and forth lulling of her conjuring of time, a space in which distance collapses and we reside in a moment intermingling every moment passed and a present that embodies recollected time. I always adore Anne Carson's book design. A gem.

it feels impossible to rate this book, and also assorted collections in general i'm discovering, because not every work in this book is perfect, but when they are perfect they are totally altering, they wake you up and the act of writing suddenly appears infinitely more generative than it did before. so is it 5 stars if this only happened sometimes not always? novels would not be held to this standard… they are allowed to slacken in parts. anyway. my favourites were snow, thret, we've only just begun, and fate federal court moon.
