I don't like giving books a low rating, but this book just didn't work that well for me. The plot wasn't that good. I had hoped for more action and excitement. There's was some parts of the book, and some characters, that I quite enjoyed. That's why this is a 2.5 stars book for me.

No tiene nada de la saga original, de hecho lo leo y no avanzo más que un par de páginas con suerte.

So I'm going to be honest, I wasn't super excited going into this book. I hated Ridley with every fiber of my being when I read the Beautiful Creatures series. And here's a spin-off that focuses entirely on her...yay.

But I didn't hate it. I know, I'm shocked too. But here's the thing. The parts that I liked had nothing to do with Ridley.

So let's talk about this book. Ridley and Link drive off to New York together, but for different reasons. Link wants to find a new band and make music, Ridley needs to turn in a drummer because she lost a game of poker. Yup, you read that right. She's trading her boyfriend for a poker debt she owes. Classy right? So Link thinks he found a new band but really he's just a pawn in Ridley's poor life choices.

Guys, I really do not understand the Ridley/Link relationship. Not that I really like either of them but they do not make any sense together. Not even in the opposites attract way.

Anyway...

So what did I like about this story that rated it 3 stars? Mostly the new character of Nox - the mysterious "villain" of the story. He was one of the only characters to really come alive in the story and I found myself interested in what was going on with him. There were also Link's new bandmates. They were a motley crew but I enjoyed watching their interactions. And let's be honest, Floyd was a much better match for Link then Ridley would ever be.

But honestly, while I didn't hate this book, this series really did not need to be written. Ridley is not a strong enough, nor likable enough, to hold her own book series. But since I own both of them, I'm off to read the second.

It was pretty good.

I'm still attached to the old characters but I found the new ones harder to like and/or get attached to. It took me a while to get into the book. I found the first half boring and confusing but the second half was so good.

Kami Garcia has thrown me two cliffhangers this week. One by herself in Unmarked and one with the help of Margaret Stohl in this book.

I NEED MORE BOOKS GUYS!

I have always loved Link and Ridley. But I have a new found love in Nox...... I read this book in a day. I seriously love the characters.
