This series was a wild ride. Full of chaos, fun, darkness and, at times, questionable occurrences. I actually like the violence and goriness both All the Pretty Monsters and Kristy/CM's other RH series boast. She has fun writing these twisted stories, with deliciously douchey, alpha men that one way or another always end up put in their places by the adorable, funny, kickass ladies they love.
Also, she's the master of writing magnificently life-like characters. They're all always so nuanced and perfectly individualized. Vance, the tortured, condescending hero; Emit, the oblivious, sweet savage; Arion, the romantic psycho and Damien, the irresistibly charming stalker. And, of course, lovely, chaotic, selfless Violet. Who loved making shampoo and saving a buck by making her own clothes and had a terrible monster trapped inside her. Kristy has some of the most fun, outrageous, detailed characters out there.
If there's one thing I'd complain about, though, is how inconsistent the flow of the book was. We'd be in the middle of an action scene, and we'd change POV to another character who was sitting around just discussing something with someone else. It was all very start and stop, which I didn't particularly like.
All in all, I still very much enjoyed the series and would recommend it.

Series review: We have to start with the slur in the room. It realistically should've been a dealbreaker to even pick it up. The throwaway one liner from Violet toward the beginning was... an attempt was attempted.
Moving on, it was a fun read. I liked the heroes more than the heroine at a lot of points and in general the lads were great - distinct and complete characters with POV chapters. The concept of the world and their *gestures vaguely* whole thing is neat. Great cast of side characters that really fill out the world.
The plot though - I have no idea what happened in this series. People were always figuring things out and having aha moments but I either didn't understand the aha or they never even explained it. I guess I was supposed to have also figured it out? I did not. There are a lot of moving pieces and it was hard for me to keep track of the connections and importance. They do fall in love though.

The saga as a whole is worth it but this last book felt unnecessarily long and extending in all the parts i don't quite enjoy. It also switched POVs a lot to the point where I had trouble keeping track of who was narrating and in such a way that the reader was always left to guess instead of being in on the plot, which felt ok when we were discovering things with Violet, not so much when the pov switched to all the others so that we wouldn't know her plan aside from the guesses. The ending felt rushed. The relationship between the main characters felt forced and not at all at the level of description on what was happening. The level of trust and emotional maturity didn't match the status and it was deeply upsetting to read. Mostly because this last book felt more like the harem (Damien, Emit, and Arion, mostly) was cornering her and forcing her to accept their advances as if they were deeply intimate at an emotional level and not just a physical one. Just not my cup of tea.
Graphic: Gore, Toxic relationship, Violence
Moderate: Physical abuse, Sexual content, Torture, Violence, Stalking, War
Enjoyed the series. Only complaint is how long it took the guys to realize she’s not an idiot. Like at this point she really does deserve better. Like this series had me seated but how is each book the exact same with them saying she’s weak and her literally solving all the problems? But also this is just me ranting and I really did have a great time even when exasperated.
sooo... this is the ending to the series.. If you have read any of my other reviews for this series you know that I found it extremely confusing.. And this one was no different. We finally find out what Violet is and it took me so long to understand.
Now that it's over I can appreciate how much thought and planning had to go into this story. Because it was so intricate and every single thing that seemed like nothing, actually meant quite alot. I honestly thing I will absolutely love this series if I ever re-read it because while reading it I just felt like a moron.
I am going to give this book 4 stars just because it's so impressive the way everything tied together. But honestly the story was lower for me.

Just couldn’t keep connected to the characters.
