Just finished reading this and my heart hurts in the best possible way.
This was an incredible book - I really enjoyed the multiple perspectives and the way various hints were dropped throughout so the reader could draw some conclusions before the characters did!

Such a sweet and tender middle grade library tale.

“For the first time, it occurred to me that books don’t get used up. Books got powered by the reader, didn’t they? They could be read again and again.”
This was such an adorable book. Given that it’s geared for young readers, as an adult the mysteries felt fairly predictable. However, for young readers this was a great introduction into foreshadowing and using clues to come to the book’s outcome. I also thought it was an interesting choice to tell the story through a child, a cat, and a ghost’s perspective. It added to the overall whimsey. As with other multi POV stories, I gravitated towards one POV in particular. In this story that was the cat’s POV (Mortimer). I’m also a sucker for books about books/reading, so having a story featuring a Little Free Library and the love of reading was sure to be a hit. Listening to the audiobook, I appreciated that there were different narrator’s performing the different POVs. For me, having distinct narrators for different POVs always increases my enjoyment. Overall, if you’re looking for a cute, quick, middle grade read make sure to give this one a try.
