An interesting look at the other (much more informed) side of the story presented in Twilight. I found it more engaging than the original, purely for the depth of information available to the narrator. It doesn't fix the flaws of the original viewpoint (it is, after all, telling the same story) but it does flesh the world around the main characters out and that is what I was here for.

Slightly more nutritious junkfood, but literary junkfood nonetheless.

I actually had so much fun with this lol. I found it loads more entertaining than the actual original novels. I doubt this was the intention of Meyers, but this made Edward even more deranged, weird, creepy, which as a result makes him actually more interesting than he ever was before. It’s very fun, especially if you don’t take it seriously and are coming from a place of love-hate for the series.

Much more interesting than twilight. Now I wish the whole series had been in Edward’s POV.

Edward Cullen I hate being in your head but I'd be a liar if I said this stupid book didn't take me on a roller coaster ride. I laughed, I screamed, I wished and prayed for your spontaneous combustion despite knowing it was a futile hope. This book is a MUST for anyone who read the original series. Sure, it might make you hate The Cullens more, or hate Edward more, or, well... hate any of the characters more (except Jacob—that's one character that was spared; so three cheers for you baby Jake fans) but you'll come out the other side a changed person. Definitely a darker read than Twilight or any of the follow-up books in the series, but trust me, you'll still laugh at the amount of lampshading and retconning Stephenie Meyer does. It's worth it alone to read
the car chase scene
so I'd say read it if just to read the chapter titled 'Race'. You can thank me later.

 ✨3/5✨
Giving this book a three stars because honestly, at least Edward was self-aware about what he was doing. Going into this book right after going into Bella's certainly took its time, but when I finished it I was more invested in the background of the side characters than Eddie boi's "Woe is me, I'm a vampire in love with a human and I could hurt her any second of any day" attitude.
