This series is pretty great, but wow this one was a lot darker than the others.

If you’re gonna go western, go Longmire. In this third book, the sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, finds himself in foreign Philadelphia for his bff Henry Standing Bear’s photography exhibit, and how convenient it is that his only daughter Cady lawyers there as well.

What seems to be a pleasant trip quickly turns into a hard-boiled mystery after Cady is assaulted and left in a coma. Sheriff Longmire, with the help of various Moretti family members, Philly fuzz, and some seedy city characters, won’t stop until he gets to the bottom of his daughter’s attack. Having to keep track of all those characters, though— that’s why I’m awarding three stars instead of four. Sometimes less is more.

Side note— For all those who watched the series, this storyline was never adapted for the screen. Also, Vic Moretti is so very different on the page, which is neither good nor bad— just a comment.

So far I've read three of the Longmire series and this one is my favorite. Great character development.

Kind of a twisty confusion of a main story but with Henry on the road with Walt, even being set outside of Wyoming was bearable. Ha ha. Bear-able. Get it?

I love these characters.

Really liked this one too! Walter goes to Phillie was a fun story and I especially liked that he finally “ends up with” my favorite character Vic!

Had a little trouble keeping all the Philadelphia characters straight.
