A fun, vivid novel that's as much a Western epic as a romance. The final tying-up of a couple of subplots did feel slightly rushed, but only because the characters were so thoroughly developed that I wanted to know more about the ends of their stories. All in all a great story.

The fourth book in the McKettrick series was just a fun read full of interesting historical detail on how life was for the settlers (very hardy & brave souls indeed) in the 1880's in Texas & the impact it had on the Comanche People. Miller has once again delivered another story that has tugged at any number of my heartstrings. I'd considered reading this author for a number of years.. so happy I finally took the time to do so! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ of 5

Miller has an excellent, casual, turn of phrase.

Lorelei was really annoying. This is the last book (#4) in this series, and I found that I had little patience for a heroine who would make more work for others or endanger others' safety because she was stubborn or hard-headed. Yes, the men in this series could be harsh and uncompromising, and I like a fiery heroine with some spunk, but I like INTELLIGENT women who stand up for themselves and go toe-to-toe with the hero, not whiny brats who rush headlong into danger but expect someone else to rescue them.

Oh, and the other thing that's annoying (in this series and others like it) is books 2 through "whatever" where the hero(es) from the previous book(s) is(are) so judgmental and sanctimonious with the current book's hero. They seem to have amnesia concerning their previous behavior.

Yeah, I know, this wasn't a review. The women in this series really annoyed me.
