Fusions can be such great metaphors and this even brought up trans issues. Interesting way to play around with these concepts.

Another good volume. This one deals with some of the fusions, more specifically, Stevonnie, Garnet, Smoky Quartz, Opal, and Sugilite.

Stevonnie's story starts off with what looks pretty darn close to a Pride parade. The color coded bubbles for Stevonnie and Garnet as they have somewhat of a voice over conversation during the action of a corrupted gem crashes the parade is super cool and I liked the message it held.

In Garnet's story, we get a little more insight as to who she was when she first came to be and how she went from a cotton candy color scheme to the one she has now. It's always nice to get more of the stoic gem that we all love but don't know as well as some of the others.

I really liked Smoky's story in this one. Steven and Amethyst have to fuse in order to save Beach City from a gem and they end up saving Vidalia from falling debris and she invites them to her studio to give them a little paint. Or rather, she invites Amethyst. In Vidalia's excitement, she keeps calling Smoky Quartz Amethyst despite Smoky correcting her and growing more and more uncomfortable as the day goes on until Amethyst and Steven unfuse and they all talk about it. Honestly, I felt like it was a really good comic to have for trans/nonbinary kids/teens/adults as it is a story not too unfamiliar with family and old friends when you first come out.

It was so nice to see Opal again, honestly. I miss her so much in the show. Pearl and Amethyst are tracking down a flying centepeedle and they need to catch it without disturbing a hoard of bats. In Amethyst's rush to get this done so she can go to taco Tuesday, she's too loud to continue what she's doing and not disturb the bats and she makes a comment on how it's too fast for the both of them and Pearl suggests Opal. It's so nice to see those two getting along. They have such great moments together when they're not antagonizing each other.

It was also really great to see Sugilite again. In this story, we get to see a little more what it's like to be a fusion, specifically what it's like for Garnet and Amethyst to be Sugilite. Pearl, as always, is a hard no for them fusing pretty much ever again because of how reckless they can be as Sugilite and how wrecked they are afterwards, but Steven has a plan for them to listen more closely to each other and it works out pretty well. So maybe we'll be able to see a little more of Sugilite in the future.

All in all, I thought it was a very good volume. Still love how it feels like I'm watching filler episodes of the show.
