The lyrical beauty of the prose contrasted perfectly with the brutal things happening.

A pretty decent - albeit rather disturbing - read if you can get past the insane level of men-writing-women

Good book with interesting lessons on masculinity. Loved the ending.

Mishima's writing is absolutely mesmerizing. The characters were also very well formed, and each one of them had a distinctive voice. Although I wasn't completely on board with the plot of the novel, Mishima has definitely intrigued me as an author. I look forward to reading more works by him.

The moment the gang killed the cat I knew what was going to happen at the end lol. Still a great book, appreciate the writing and how ironic Ryuji’s death was; being murdered like a kitten by a group of kids when he thought he was some sort of a chosen one destined for big things. The very last sentence of the book broke my heart though.

The translation could be better but love this book!
