Interesting, but not 10 years later it feels woefully outdated. Good as an insight to mars exploration circa 2014ish

Although it frequently reads like a soapbox and never feels like a fully fleshed out plan, Mission to Mars is still a good book for the Mars reader, with some interesting ideas for tackling travel, settlement, and policy. I personally enjoyed reading about Aldrin's experience on the moon and his homage to Neil Armstrong at the end as well.

Decent enough, but fairly thin on content. A bit too much PR-speak about various different foundations, think tanks, and advocacy groups which doesn't add much to the technical discussion.

Okay. So this book made me want to get in my spacesuit and get my ass to Mars. 5 Stars!

Quick read. Pretty US-centric but I enjoyed the overview of on-going projects anyway

Pretty good. Interesting and thought provoking. Too much like reading a business plan to qualify for great though. And Aldrin seems to have a fixation on landing on one of Mars's moons first before heading to the planet which seems to make little sense. As well as, we're skipping our moon, where we have yet to demonstrate that we can make that trip routine. Aldrin seems to be well ahead of our technology.

An intriguing concept. Admittedly, some of the details did go over my head, but the main ideas were clear and concise. And as lovely as a settlement outside of Earth sounds, I’m not sure the public is in a place to be dreaming big right now. However, Aldrin’s warnings about asteroids should certainly be heeded.
