Written in a kind of stream of consciousness, this fever dream of a book didn't sit well with me. I wasn't in the right mood to really dive into this book- it's not really a read right before bed kind of book for me. There is a ton of detail packed into the paragraphs, and I can see it being a breakthrough in literature, but its style is just not for me.

There's weird and then there's weird for weirdness' sake. Unfortunately this book is full of the latter. I kept reading, hoping for some kind of payoff or resolution. There is one of sorts, but it's flimsy and feels tacked on.

●химерний текст - м'яко кажучи
●не менш дивакуваті діалоги
●оповідь минуле/майбутнє(до того ж про різних персонажів)
●don't even know why

As someone else on Goodreads noted, if you need a lot of instant gratification, this one isn't for you. It takes a while for all the separate threads to come together. But when they do, it works beautifully (or at least, it did for me).

A while back, I went to a reading. It was a cool setup, in the book store after closing, with the lights out.

There were two people reading that night: Kelly Link, who I was there to see, and Samantha Hunt who I had never heard of. Samantha Hunt read from this book, Mr. Splitfoot, and I vaguely added a mental note that I should maybe read it.

Three years later, I finally got around to reading this. Turns out it's good!

Creepy and haunting. Grotesque. A story about families, both the ones we're born with and the ones we build.

Even though I had read & loved "The Seas", this book still took me by surprise.

It grew on me by the end, but I felt like there was too much meandering to really get into it. Not quite what I was hoping for.
