I blew through this book! This felt like a fresh take (although the book is several years old) on the usual vampire stories. I like Caine as a thoughtful writer who brings depth to her characters and this book was no exception.

There was some violence from Monica's character that felt so far beyond typical bully behavior that I'm expecting some explanation... Maybe just growing up in a town controlled by vamps will do that to some? Maybe power without consequences? I also want some more backstory from Oliver and Amelie. I trust Caine will deliver this, though.

I'm eagerly awaiting the second and third in the series from the library.

this book was ok for me, it wasnt really the "4" rating book that most people seem to say but it was new for me as i hadnt read any other book with vampires as 'villains' or the bad guys..or whatever before, what i didnt get was halfway through the book she was into michael and suddenly eve and him are together and she is with shane..anyways after awhile i got used to it but still it sort of defied my expectations.

Reading GLASS HOUSES reminded me a lot of my first time reading the Sookie Stackhouse series: I have problems with the lackluster writing, problematic characterization, and meandering plot, but for some reason I am completely and utterly addicted, and have already lined up the next few books in the series to read. I dislike Claire for her victim and near damsel-in-distress status, and could have appreciated more development about the vampires, but it’s still an easy read that you will find hard to put down

Claire. Is not. my favorite person. Not one bit. The fact that she doesn't think she has anything going for her because she isn't pretty? annoying. She only began to become acceptable when she started her gift-her brain. Brains are undervalued in society and this Claire does not help it become better.. sigh.

The only reason i would read the rest of the series (which I am not sure i will as the only reason I even remembed to write a review for this book was because.. i was doing my spring cleaning-WINTER IS OVER WOOT WOOT- and found it and couldn't remember it) is to find out what happens with the house ghost and emo girl. Should be interesting.

Not a particularly remarkable book.

I expected so much more from this book other than the juvenile lines and silly story. Some of the book was alright but I have to admit that I was bored. I made it about 70% of the way through the book before I gave up and decided it was time to start reading something that could maintain my interest.

I am already reading the second book, it is that good.

10/10/2021: I reread this for a challenge, I had completely forgotten some of the plot. I changed the rating. I didn't like it as much this time around.
