What is there to say, Suzanne Collins has done it again. This is the first of the Hunger Games universe I've read rather than simply watching the movies, and I've clearly been missing out. Her attention to detail, the way the story unfolds was awe inspiring. Even knowing how it ends, I was gripping the pages to see how each twist and turn would end up. Don't start this book without a few tissues nearby!

It was perfect. I sobbed.
I read the original trilogy as a teenager and enjoyed it at first, but I didn’t like the end. I decided to read this one on a whim and I’m so glad I did. As an adult, I have an entirely different perspective reading it. I would like to go back and read the original trilogy because I think I would appreciate it so much more now.
Absolutely devastating but totally worth the read.

This was a delight to read, and heartbreaking at the same time. Suzanne Collins had something to say and oh did she say things. The messages are so very clear. Reading about Haymitch's experiences really hurt. It added a lot of depth to him as a character, his District, and the trilogy.
