bof

I loved this book. I love haymitch and I’m frothing for the movie.
This was defo the most tragic of all the books. I enjoyed haymitch’s back story but am crying at the way she forced all these connections to the original trilogy???? Like ur telling me wiress, beetee, Plutarch and effie all met eachother and got to know each other at Haymitchs quarter quell?????? Sorrrry I’m crying
Also, I know Susanne Collins only writes when she has something to say but what did she say here that was different to what she has said previously ????? There were no new themes etc
My review so far is giving I didn’t enjoy the book but I did!!!!! I thought it was heartbreaking ! Poor louelle, poor Lou Lou ! Poor poor haymitch x
Are are u coming to the tree for real!

a great addition to the hunger games universe/lore, expanding on characters we see in the original trilogy and the songbirds and snakes prequel. I will say I feel like if you didn't read the trilogy and/or the other prequel this book probably wouldn't hit for you, I think its strength is in adding dimension/background to characters like plutarch, effie, beetee, and even lucy gray and president snow, so the book lacks the ability to really stand out as an independent novel. however, in the context of the other books I think its a great addition and compelling story, albeit like slightly corny at times with the interspersions of edgar allan poe? I do love how suzanne collins has woven in poetry and song lyrics as powerful elements in various books, and the history of the covey and their naming system (lenore's name also foreshadowing her fate essentially) is one of my favorite parts of this book. but at times it did feel a bit corny/out of place to read lines from the raven in between lines of haymitch's personal monologue. anyways this was pretty fire, excited to see what they do with the movie.
