I’m a lover of the hunger games series, and a huge fan of Haymitch as a character, so this was always going to be good for me. Especially because Suzanne Collins isn’t an author who writes for the sake of writing, she always has something important and impactful to say. But you know what was the best part?
We know Haymitch’s backstory from the other books. We know how it ends.
And yet every time another person he cares about, someone he loves, is ripped from him? We still feel the sting. We feel the ache even though we knew, because we’re still rooting to change the ending. The capitol’s cruelty never fails to astound.
I loved this. I’m heartbroken.
