I only finished because I read the book for a readathon and because I listened to the audio book

Maybe I don't understand the point of the book, but why does the author tells us his problems and gives a f*ck about them?

This a very popular book, its cover has been smacking me in the face since its release years ago. The title sounds badass but I was skeptical due to the book being so popular. I thought it was one of those ever increasing over-hyped books on self-growth so, admittedly, I picked this book from the bookshelf with the intention of just getting it over and done with. Seems unfair and harsh but it’s the truth.

Reading the first couple of chapters, Mark Manson was coming across to me as cocky and smug, but also funny. Funny is good, so I carried on reading.

As the book progresses, it gets deeper into more meaningful topics - the ones on relationships and death were the ones I found most interesting. He touches on many more important subjects, such as the victim mentality, being truthful rather than overly agreeable, the trap in denying negative emotions, the media’s influence on our polarised society and one’s responsibility for one’s life. Perhaps we already know most of this stuff but nothing wrong with reminding ourselves of such relevant topics on life.

So, surprisingly, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Perhaps due to expectations being low in the beginning but also definitely due to finding this book very helpful in understanding some of my own issues and reflecting on life (and death).

I can see why the author’s smug attitude can rub people off in the wrong way, but personally it didn’t bother me in the slightest - nobody is perfect and he certainly doesn’t try to come across as such. Plus, I was more focussed on the content. But, having said that, I like the guy’s attitude, he discusses meaningful stuff and, on top of that, made me chuckle many times throughout the book.

I liked this book. Like most books, I didn't agree with everything he said, but overall, I liked the direct, humorous approach and found the book worthwhile.

I actually appreciated the information in this book. I thought some of his [sexual] examples were a little crass (but hello... You chose to read a book with the word "fuck" in the title...

I was extremely excited to read this book, but after reading it I was extremely disappointed....most of the book was filled with dismal opinions and problematic outlooks on life! I wish I could give this zero stars and get my money back!

Some good points but very strong claims which meant the points seemed good but purely through the confidence in them
