Quite often the first thing I remember about the book is the situation I was in while reading it. Fictional plots get intertwined with real life, and the latter influences my perception of the story greatly. So there are all kinds of book associations in my head, like “holiday in Greece” kind of book, “working 80 hours per week without a day off and going crazy” book, “on a flight to Norway” book and so on. This is my war book now.

Nova Ruda is somewhere in my mind along with flashbacks of hiding from air attacks in the bathroom, sirens and shaking hands, compulsive checking of social networks in order to see how close the russians are to my hometown and whether my friends all over the country are safe. I hope this too will become just a memory, a part of fiction processed by my brain, not a reality it is now.
