As with most anthologies, the quality of and my appreciation of the stories varies. There is a similar cadence to them, which I didn't realise until nearing the end of the book, that must come from the original Croatian--a language I unfortunately don't speak a word of. Which is not to say that the stories themselves are similar, ranging from comedy to erotica to weird to straight-up horror. I've never read anything quite like some of the ideas here, and for all the stories' flaws, I think they're really going to stick with me.
