Lacy Carter Andersen has one big problem, one thing that's really starting to bother me. Her books are too short! Every time I'm in it, really addicted and not able to pull myself away from the story, it ends. And in this case it ends with a horrible cliffhanger on top of that! How dare she? How dare she pull me in like that, time and time again, only to leave so soon again and to keep me waiting for more like some addict?

This book starts where the previous book ended. This means there's no more build up, no more dull moments. There's a lot of action in this book and most of all there's a lot of danger. It kinda feels like our main characters are never truly safe and even as a reader I feel the pressure of the race against the time and the unknown people. Lives are at stakes, the future of the race is at stake and although we as readers know more than the characters watching them figure everything out is quite exciting.

I also really love the struggle our main character is having and the discussion linked to her crisis. If she's a dark fae, how can she have feelings? And how could her brother, very much a light fae, use powers only meant for the dark ones? Every revelation, every emotion, has a huge impact on our heroine and on the people around. And considering what we're learning in this book, it's gonna have a huge impact on society.

Because on top of a struggling heroine we also have quite active politics. There's so much going on! There are so many players with influence or without. Our point of view characters are not really in the middle of it, although I get the feeling they are slowly moving towards that middle, but what we see is so interesting and sickening at once. In a very light hearted way this story actually shows how easy it is to convince people of very dangerous ideas.

So, when will I get the next one? Because that cliffhanger was brutal!

Ruin is the second book in this trilogy and it manages to keep the pace going as fast as the first book did. Relationships are defined, characters are fleshed out and mysteries abound. The FMC and her guys are very well written, as is the world they are king in. Lacey Carter Andersen is a fantastic story teller and I'm absolutely loving this series.

This book starts with action and ends with action as well as a cliffhanger!

I am really enamored with Esmeray, Bron, Dwade and Lucian. I'm intrigued by Malin and really want to see where thus goes!

This book is well written, has characters you can get invested in and the world building and plot are amazing!

I received this as an Advance Reader Copy from Booksprout with the hopes I would like it and review it. In order to support this author, I also borrowed this book with Kindle Unlimited and read that copy.

Let's start with the most important thing... this book ends with a cliffhanger, so unless you are ready to read it and then start bothering Lacey Carter Andersen for book 3, I think it's better if you wait.
I'm not a big fae stories fan, but this series blew my mind away. Book two starts exactly where book 1 has left, and we see Esmeray as a 3D person, with highs and lows during her search about the truth of what happened to her brother. Let's also not forget the hot moments between her and her brother's best friends.

Ruin is the second book in Lacey Carter Andersen’s Royal Fae Academy series. Book two picks up where book one left off and races ahead full speed. Esmeray is intent on discovering the truth behind what happened to her brother, and even if that means learning some secrets that someone else wants to keep locked away in the dark.
Ruin progresses forward with Esmeray’s story and her struggle to accept the three men who have come to love her over the years. I have to admit that I liked this book better than I liked the first book after the prequel. Esmeray is a bit more balanced in this book, but then she starts getting on my nerves again. We get more of the guys with this book which I really appreciated. It meant I had to deal less with Esmeray’s…attitude…and sorry not sorry…ignorance at times. I will say that the author reveals some secrets with this book and one that is connected to Esmeray. I’ll admit…this revelation causes me to look at her in a different light…to an extent. I like that we get some chapters with the stranger in the tunnels. His story really interests me and I’m eager to see how he deals with everything that is going on and soon to happen.
In the prequel of this series I liked Esmeray…for the most part. LOL! Book one…I couldn’t stand her and wanted to give her a smack to see if she’d straighten up. As I said above, Esmeray is a bit more…balanced in this book, but she’s quick to fall back into what she believes is who she really is. The author lures me into thinking that once Esmeray will use her brain and have some sense…no. LOL! Esmeray abandons the guys then wants to get mad (?!) at them because they choose to ignore her?? I’m like…Esmeray! Make it make sense! There are a couple of missed elements in this book as well. There is a scene with Esmeray. The author has a scene where something is thrown on/at her, but then never mentions it again. What was the item? Was it not important to come back to?
I’ll admit, this book is better than the first. Esmeray in this book stops trying to be the big loud sore thumb on campus and actually tries to blend in a bit. She’s just still petulant and bratty to the guys and wants to constantly hold them to a twisted standard that makes no sense. I enjoyed this book quite a bit and the cliffhanger…OMG!!! If you hate cliffhangers…you’re not going to like this book because you get TWO! You’ll understand if/when you read it. LOL!
If you enjoyed the first book, the actual first book not the prequel, then I’m willing to bet that you’ll devour this book. If you’re like me and book one left you on the fence but you still enjoyed it then I encourage you to pick up this book. I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I neeeed book three and soon! I have to find out what happens next. Things are getting intense and I honestly don’t want to miss out on what’s coming.

Wow this series just keeps getting better! The secrets we have seen so far are intriguing and I want to know more! We finally find out who killed her brother, but we don't know the name of that person!! I'm dying to know more to find out what secrets are in those tunnels! Yhat cliffy got me again, will he save her? Will the boy's survive and escape? Soo many questions I need answered lol! Can't wait for the next book, Lacey has done an amazing job with these books and I am hooked!!

This series just keeps you hooked. As a book in the middle of a series, more question are being presented than we are getting answers for. This is not a bad thing. The story is so intriguing! I can't wait to find out where it is all heading. I am really liking the changes that we are seeing in Esmeray. I love the evolution that her character is going through. Also I am enjoying the relationships that she is building, even beyond the ones with her men. This is a great series and I have high hopes for the next book.

Ruin is book 2 of the Royal Fae Academy series, and picks up pretty much where the first book left off. It deals mostly with the mystery of what exactly is going on at the School, and in the deeper reaches of Fae Society, and how it ties in with Esme's brother's death.

The identity of the mystery stranger is hinted at, with a twist, along with his connection to Esme.

The story moves at a far pace - this and the following book take place over a very short time frame- and it sets up the action for the final act perfectly.

This book has suspense, action, and brilliant characters that pull you in. I read the first book and had to get the second one. I can't wait for the third book in this series. I need to find out what happens. This book ended with a cliffhanger.
