I will be withholding my review of this book as well as any public opinions until St. Martin’s Press (the publisher) meets the demands of the boycott.

I went through the whole book not being able to decide how I felt about it.

4.25 stars. This was a SURPRISE. I did not expect to like this more than maybe a 3 stars. I freaking loved it though. I cannot give it 5 stars because the first half of the book was slow. However, I still enjoyed this from start to finish. I am honestly still shocked. The ratings really had me thinking it was just going to be okay or not good. It goes to show how subjective reading is.

It's a gentle, and yet fiercely told story. All the important characters have their flaws, and all are working from a place of good intentions. They're good people in bad situations and making the best of those situations. It's a tad bit too long, but otherwise a sweet read.

This was an enchanting story of a kingdom in turmoil. When  I loved seeing the main character, Nimah, grow through the book. Its easy, when you are struggling, to put all the blame on yourself. She is one of those, taking all the cares of her family upon herself. I loved seeing her friendship with the Prince develop as she is tasked with making his wedding week wardrobe. The characters were all so real and mostly likeable. Even in their bad decisions, you can't help but root for things to work out for them.
