It took some time to get into the story, but the more I read, the more I liked it. Can't wait for book 2 :D

I think this book was a little slow to get into, maybe due to some faults in the world building, but in a stand alone book it is to be expected. I think that it definitely picks up in the second half and becomes a fun book. Although the ending was a little abrupt. Overall I enjoyed the time I spent with this book.

Yeah it's ok. Despite being first-person it doesn't establish as much identity or motivation as I would hope for in the narrator, and it doesn't feel overall that the book does a good job setting up a goal to work towards. It winds up feeling meander-y for a good chunk of the middle as a result.
